Nation's Tri blog

What started off as a small group of ambitious people 25 years ago has grown into an army that rivals the military of many developed nations. Since its inception in 1988 Team in Training has grown to include more than 600,000 talented and dedicated athletes. More importantly this amazing Team has raised more than $1.4 BILLION to fight blood cancers and support patients going through treatment. People have joined TNT for many different reasons. Whether it’s a direct connection to our mission, checking off a bucket-list item, or training for specific competitive goals. Regardless of your reason, TNT has a place for you on our front lines.

The core of our program is our connection and support to the mission of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It’s the reason the 5 AM swims, the long days on the bike, and the “slightly shaded” runs around Hains Point are WORTH it. Many people join TNT without a connection to the mission but quickly find out that someone they know has been affected by a blood cancer. All participants get a chance to share their connections to our mission and will meet and engage with Honored Teammates throughout the season. Mission is what drives us and gives us purpose, it’s truly the reason we do what we do.

The only thing better than a great ride on a Saturday morning is doing that ride with a group of your closest friends. Over the course of the season you develop friendships and bonds with people you wouldn’t have otherwise met. I have met many of my closest friends through TNT and continue to meet more awesome people every season. Whether you are new to the sport or you’re an experienced triathlete there are like-minded individuals that can make the training season much more enjoyable. Let’s face it…we all need someone to vent to about our coaches!

Finish Line

Over the last 25 years TNT has built and trained an amazing set of experienced coaches that lead our training and athlete development programs. Our coaches deliver professional training instruction and information to all of our athletes to make sure they are well prepared to meet their race-day goals. Whether your goal is to get to the finish line alive, set a new PR, or get one of those coveted podium spots, our coaches will work with you individually to achieve your personal objectives. Not only do I continue to set new PRs but I get to actually see the difference that TNT has made in the lives of so many cancer patients and families.
